Tuscany Destination Wedding at Villa di Ulignano

Dreaming of a wedding that combines breathtaking landscapes, historic charm, and a touch of romance? Look no further than Tuscany. With its idyllic countryside, delectable cuisine, and world-renowned wines, Tuscany has undoubtedly become a coveted destination for couples seeking a truly unforgettable wedding experience. When Sophia & Tyler got in touch to tell me all about their plans for a wedding at Villa di Ulignano, I knew it would be a fantastic day. I certainly wasn’t wrong!

Tuscany Wedding Venue

Situated in the vicinity of Volterra, Villa di Ulignano provides an ideal venue for an intimate and exclusive wedding experience. This historic 17th century villa exudes elegance and sophistication, nestled among lush gardens and olive groves. The villa offers a range of luxurious accommodations for you and your guests, ensuring a comfortable and memorable stay. With its breathtaking views and exquisite architectural details, Villa di Ulignano sets the stage for an unforgettable wedding celebration in Tuscany.

A Wedding at Villa di Ulignano

Have your wedding at Villa di Ulignano and make it your home for the entire week. The nature of the private rental allows for so much flexibility for your wedding celebrations. This, paired with the perfect planning by Olga from Each Other Weddings & Events, allowed Sophia & Tyler have the perfect wedding day – their way.

Memorable Moments

Sophia & Tyler had asked Tyler’s sister Caity, who has Down Syndrome, to be their flower girl for the day. A really lovely moment came when Caity walked down the aisle. She got about halfway before she remembered she had to do something with the petals in the basket she was holding – but she wasn’t sure what. So in front of all the guests, she simply lifted the basket up high and poured the entire contents over her own head! Caity proudly finished her walk as the guests erupted in laughter at this innocent and joyous moment, and it became a talking point for the rest of the day. Talk about stealing the show!

Let’s Talk About Cake

Let’s talk about the cake cut. Don’t get me wrong, it’s usually one of my least favourite parts of a wedding day – an often boring, staged photo with no real purpose and pretty awful symbolism behind it. But this was not like traditional western cake cuttings where the couple stand next to a tiered sponge cake with a knife and smile, oh no. The couple took part in the building of their own wedding dessert, a mille-feuille. Made with layers of puff pastry and filled with pastry cream and sometimes fruit, the making of this French dessert is a fun and interactive element of the wedding evening that is particularly popular with destination weddings in Italy and France. A much better idea – UK, take note!

Why Have a Destination Wedding?

Sophia & Tyler, along with around 40 of their closest friends and family, travelled all the way from the United States for their destination wedding at Villa di Ulignano. Sure, they could have got married closer to home – but they wanted an experience, not just a wedding.

One of the advantages of a destination wedding is the opportunity for an extended celebration. Tuscany offers a range of activities and experiences for couples and their guests to enjoy beyond the wedding day. Explore the enchanting cities of Florence and Pisa, take leisurely walks through the vineyards, or embark on a romantic hot air balloon ride over the countryside. Plan pre-wedding activities like wine tastings at local vineyards (which these guys did!) or hands-on cooking classes to immerse yourselves in the Tuscan way of life. Make unforgettable memories amidst the golden hues of sunset or embrace the romance of an alfresco dinner overlooking the picturesque rolling hills. You’ll never want to go home!

Italy Destination Wedding Photography

Sophia & Tyler’s celebrations were actually my third time photographing a wedding in Tuscany. (See my first ever Tuscany destination wedding here!) The mesmerizing landscapes and rich history, coupled with delectable cuisine and warm hospitality, make it a dream destination for couples planning a memorable wedding celebration. Whether you desire an intimate gathering or a grand affair, Tuscany offers a wealth of options to suit your vision and create an enchanting experience for both you and your guests. What are you waiting for?

Are you thinking of marrying in Italy? Whether it’s rolling Tuscan hills or a beautiful lake setting you’re after, I would love to capture it for you. Have a look at my Destination information and then get in touch to tell me all about your plans!
