Hayne House Wedding Photography

If you’re looking for a natural light wedding venue for your wedding day, where you can enjoy spending time with family and friends in an exclusive use space, I’d recommend checking out Hayne House in Hythe, Kent.

I’ve photographed at Hayne House a couple of times and wanted to share a few of the features I think make it an awesome choice for your wedding day (and your wedding photos).

The Wedding Morning

Hayne House has several spaces for couples to get ready on the morning of the wedding. In the main house there’s a lovely Bridal suite upstairs featuring a beautiful bedroom, an ornate bathroom and small dressing room; some rooms downstairs where the gentlemen can get ready or there’s the new preparation space away from the main house.

It’s a purpose built space with well thought out features, like a room with hooks and rail space to hang the wedding dress, dresses, or suits, and a beauty table with vanity mirror. From a wedding photography perspective, having a nice clean space with good light and separate area for the dress is helpful for photographing bridal preparations or grooms getting ready. (You can see some more of my Bridal Prep Photo Tips on this post!)

The Wedding Ceremony

Just like with the wedding morning, once again there are several areas at Hayne House where you can hold your ceremony. It’s one of the things I love about this venue! There are not one, but two outdoor areas – a smaller area right outside the main house, and a standalone pergola at the other end of the garden which is much more spacious and, in my opinion, makes for better imagery.

For poor weather scenarios or for those wanting to get married indoors, there’s the Orangery. This space has an abundance of natural lighting, and will provide a timeless romantic backdrop for exchanging your wedding vows. Whilst a bit of a blank canvas, the Orangery’s ceremony area looks truly beautiful with a bit of styling – decorated with flowers or adorned with candles.

Wedding Group & Couple Portraits Locations

Every great wedding venue should have space for family group photos for both good weather, and also if it rains. If the weather is wet, the Orangery of course has lots of natural light, providing a good indoor option for your group photos without everyone getting drenched. If the weather is dry, there are lots of options that will feature the beautiful manicured gardens, not to mention the “Wedding Walkway” adorned with festoon lighting and a huge open field just past the car park which is often a good spot at golden hour, depending on the time of year.

Evening Wedding Reception

The evening reception space is in the Orangery, giving you opportunity to soak in as much of the daylight as possible with its glass walls and ceiling! The space is really flexible, so there’s plenty of room for a live band and/or DJ to take centre stage beside the bar.

One of the great things about the Orangery at Hayne House is that there is a partition in the middle – so you don’t have to see the band/DJ setting up for the party whilst you sit and eat your wedding breakfast. This is also handy if you have your ceremony inside the Orangery, as this provides some separation from the wedding breakfast area and you don’t have all the tables and chairs as a backdrop as you say “I do”!

Wedding Day Photography

If you’re looking for a wedding photographer to photograph your special day at Hayne House, I’d be excited to hear from you! My style of photography is very much natural light and features warm tones, which goes beautifully with the Orangery wedding vibe. The focus is on documentary photos that will tell the story of your day, mixed with a few posed group and couple photos. Weddings that mix contemporary with tradition are my sweet spot, and the Hayne House wedding venue in Kent is a wonderful location for couples that are looking for this concept.
