I’m FINALLY getting around to sharing one of my favourite weddings of the year – a Tuscany destination wedding no less! I knew I would love this one, from the second I met Emma and Johnny at their Alexandra Palace couples shoot earlier this year and discovered their crazy-fun personalities. Did I mention it was in Italy?
A Destination Wedding at Villa Gamberaia
Emma & Johnny chose Villa Gamberaia as the venue for their Italian fairy-tale wedding. I just loved the gorgeous views across the entire city of Florence. You could even see the famous Cathedral (or ‘Duomo’) in the distance!
There was little traditional about this wedding, the Bride and Groom made it completely their own day. They didn’t have bridesmaids and groomsmen as such, so the couple chose to spend the morning getting ready with their best friends. Emma wore a stunning full-sequin Alice Temperley bridal gown, really showing off her fun and unique personality. It was so unlike any other wedding dress I’d seen before, and had a great reaction when it caught the lights on the dance floor! The ceremony was also anything but traditional – with the Groom walking down the aisle like the bride and a Florence and the Machine sing-along too!
Ever Seen a Wedding Flash-Mob?
Nothing makes an Italian wedding like some Aperol and fresh mozzarella – and this venue had a chef there making it by hand! After lunch came the speeches; once the Bride and Groom had said some words, it was the turn of Emma’s sister. Unknown to the couple, she and their friends had organised a special surprise in the form of a flashmob to ‘This is Me’ from The Greatest Showman! It was a total shock to the couple who had no idea whatsoever, and Emma’s reaction was just priceless. Definitely my favourite part of the day, and even I couldn’t help but get emotional!
This beautiful day came to an end with an equally beautiful sunset creeping over the city, which we had a fantastic view of. It was almost too perfect! I absolutely love destination weddings – not just because I get to go on a little holiday, but there’s just something more intimate about having just your closest family and friends who have travelled all that way to celebrate with you that makes it extra special. There are so many stunning venues all over the world, and I cannot wait to see where else this job takes me.
