Breathtaking Sugar Beach Couple Shoot | Saint Lucia Destination Photography
This time last year, I was in Saint Lucia photographing Jasmine and Stuart’s beautiful Caribbean elopement. (Where has that time gone?!) Their wedding day at StolenTime by Rendezvous was unforgettable, but one of the highlights of the trip was the relaxed couple shoot we planned a few days later at the breathtaking Sugar Beach.
As a destination wedding photographer, I always encourage couples to take advantage of their location and schedule a separate portrait session while they’re abroad. Not only does it give you even more stunning images in incredible surroundings, but it also means you can slow things down and enjoy the experience without the time pressures of the wedding day.
And when your backdrop is somewhere as spectacular as Sugar Beach, it’s very easy to see why.
Why Sugar Beach Is One of the Most Beautiful Photo Locations in Saint Lucia
If you’ve ever seen photos of Saint Lucia, chances are you’ve seen Sugar Beach. Nestled between the island’s iconic Piton mountains, it’s easily one of the most breathtaking locations in the Caribbean. We actually chose this location specifically for it’s proximity to the Pitons on the Southern coast. With the venue for their Caribbean destination wedding being in the North of the island, I know we wouldn’t get to see them there – and I couldn’t let Stuart & Jasmine leave Saint Lucia without having some photos with the most iconic part of the island!
With soft white sand, turquoise water and those dramatic volcanic peaks rising in the background, it almost feels like a film set. For photography, it offers so much variety in a small area. From sweeping coastal views to quiet corners along the shoreline, where couples can simply wander together.
For Jasmine and Stuart’s shoot, we kept things very relaxed. They strolled barefoot along the sand, soaking in the views and enjoying the calm before too many holidaymakers descended on the famous beach. Some of my favourite images from the session came from those simple moments — walking hand in hand, laughing together, and just taking in the beauty of the island.
