Stunning Saint Lucia Elopement at StolenTime Resort

As a destination wedding photographer, one of the most exciting aspects of my job is the opportunity to capture couples in breathtaking locations. In March this year, I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful Saint Lucia elopement of Jasmine and Stuart at StolenTime, a luxury resort in the heart of the Caribbean.

From Destination Elopement to UK Reception

Jasmine and Stuart first got in touch to ask about photography for their UK reception. When they found out I also photograph destination weddings, they jumped at the chance to have the same photographer for both celebrations—starting with their elopement in Saint Lucia.

Choosing one photographer for both your destination wedding and your UK celebration has so many benefits. Not only does it ensure consistency in the look and feel of your photos, but it also means you get to build a relationship with someone who already understands your vision and style. By the time their UK reception rolled around, we already had a lovely connection from our time in the Caribbean—which made the whole experience feel even more personal and relaxed. I was sad to leave at the end of the night – it really felt like we’d become good friends!

An Intimate Beach Ceremony

The ceremony took place on the beach, with the sound of the waves as their backdrop. Since this was an intimate elopement with only Jasmine’s mum in attendance, the moment felt incredibly personal. What made it even more memorable was the unexpected audience – curious sunbathers who were watching and even cheering for the couple as the ceremony concluded! It was a truly magical atmosphere, and it felt like the whole beach was celebrating with them.

Celebrating with Champagne, Music, and Cake

After the ceremony, we took a few more couple portraits on the beach before retreating from the heat to the resort’s private champagne bar. The celebration was made even more special by the sounds of a violinist playing in the background, which led to an impromptu first dance for Jasmine and Stuart. The moment was pure magic, as they shared a quiet, private dance as newleyweds.

We finished off the celebration with some delicious cake, before heading back outside for more photos as the sun began to set. The colours in the sky were simply breathtaking, and we managed to capture some stunning final portraits of the couple on the beach.

Ending the Day with a Candlelit Dinner

The evening ended in the most perfect way – a well-earned cocktail in the hotel bar for all of us (even my husband joined in for this bit!) before Stuart, Jasmine and her mum went to enjoy dinner by candlelight right on the beach. It was a beautiful way to round off a day filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Why Eloping Might Be the Right Choice for You

Elopements have become an increasingly popular option for couples looking for something more personal and intimate. The benefits of eloping include having more time to focus on each other and the moments that truly matter. With no guests to manage, the entire day can be tailored to what the couple really wants. The best part? No compromises! You get to design the day of your dreams, without feeling the pressure of tradition. Plus, with a destination wedding, you get to say your vows in a stunning location like Saint Lucia, making your wedding day even more unforgettable.

Legal Recognition of Saint Lucia Weddings in the UK

One of the best things about weddings and elopements in Saint Lucia is that they’re legally recognised back in the UK. That means couples don’t need to worry about organising a separate legal ceremony at home—your marriage is official the moment you say “I do” on the beach! It’s one less thing to think about, and it allows you to focus purely on enjoying your day without extra admin hanging over you, or the worry of which date to celebrate your anniversary.

Saint Lucia is just one of many destinations where UK couples can legally marry abroad. Other exotic choices include Barbados, Antigua, the Bahamas, the Seychelles, Mauritius, and parts of the USA (like New York and Las Vegas). Many European countries such as Italy, France, Portugal, and Greece also offer legally binding ceremonies for UK citizens, although some do come with extra paperwork or residency requirements and usually require translation — so it’s always worth checking the specific legalities for your chosen destination.

Wherever you choose to tie the knot, having a destination wedding that’s legally recognised in the UK adds peace of mind, allowing you to fully relax and soak up every moment of your dream celebration.

Sugar Beach Couple Shoot

As part of my destination wedding packages, I also include a separate couple shoot at the location — giving you even more beautiful photos in some of the most scenic spots your destination has to offer. For Jasmine and Stuart we explored the stunning Sugar Beach for their couple session, and the views did not disappoint. We specifically chose a location to the South of the island where we’d get the iconic Saint Lucia Pitons as our backdrop, since I knew we wouldn’t get this on the wedding day with the venue being quite far North. A couple shoot is the perfect way to make the most of your surroundings in this way and capture relaxed, romantic portraits away from the wedding day itself. I can’t wait to blog this one – find the link here when I do!
