Destination Wedding in the Channel Islands

Pre-Wedding Shoot with Beach BBQ

Throwing it back a little bit now. I photographed this destination wedding in the Channel Islands in 2019, and I haven’t gotten around to blogging it yet! Jo & Gary contacted me all the way from their home in Canada to discuss photographing their destination wedding in Guernsey, where Jo was from. This was my first trip to the Channel Islands. I was quite surprised to learn that my drive to the airport would be longer than the flight itself, which takes under an hour!

Once I’d touched down and checked in to my hotel, I went to meet the lovely couple for a little couple shoot on one of Guernsey’s many beaches. Afterwards we were joined by their friends and family for an impromptu beach BBQ and picnic!

Two Ceremonies for Laid-Back Island Wedding

Jo & Gary’s wedding day was unique for a few reasons, one of which was their two ceremonies! The first was a very intimate chapel service for just immediate family and the bridal party. And when I say intimate, I mean the chapel was a little bigger than your average living room! It had just one bench either side of the aisle and one along the back. But its size only aided in making this first ceremony feel special, with only the most special people in attendance.

Ceremony number two was a gorgeous outdoor setting in the garden of Jo’s family home. Jo’s dad had sown a beautiful patch of wildflowers all around the edges of the garden in preparation for his daughter’s big day, which was so lovely (and made for some great couple portraits that evening!) This time everyone was there to look on as these two said their wedding vows in the beautiful sunshine.

So if you’re thinking of having your own destination wedding in the Channel Islands (or anywhere else for that matter!) get in touch to tell me all about your plans.
