Multi-Day Wedding Celebrations – What is a Sequel Wedding?
Celebrating Two Cultures: Georgie and Vinny’s Beautiful Sequel Weddings in Kent and London
This summer, I had the pleasure of capturing two incredible wedding celebrations for Georgie and Vinny. A multi-cultural couple who chose to honour both of their backgrounds with a Western-style wedding in Kent, followed by a traditional Sikh wedding in London. As a wedding photographer, I’ve seen many unique and beautiful ceremonies. But Georgie and Vinny’s decision to have two separate celebrations (also known as a sequel wedding) truly stood out, allowing them to fully embrace and celebrate their diverse heritage. Here’s a look back at their memorable days.

Wedding One: A Western Garden Wedding in Kent
Georgie and Vinny’s first wedding day took place at Georgie’s parents’ home in the heart of Kent. Georgie got ready in her childhood bedroom, so cute! I loved that the couple decided to do a “first look” before the ceremony, which allowed them to enjoy the morning together with their families prior to proceedings. This also allowed us to do a fair few of their group photos before guests arrived, which was ideal to make the most of the good weather before it turned!
The morning started with terrible rain, which was on and off throughout the day. The weather might have scuppered the planned outdoor ceremony, but thankfully the rain paused a little later and some blue sky emerged. Just about long enough for a beautiful garden drinks reception and some stunning outdoor photos!

An Intimate Wedding Ceremony
Unfortunately they had to move the ceremony itself into a marquee at the last minute due to the weather. But this turned out to be an incredibly intimate and heartfelt affair. With Georgie and Vinny having already legally tied the knot months earlier, they were able to have a close friend officiate the ceremony. This added a deeply personal touch, with stories from their past shared in a way only a close friend could tell. The joy, laughter, and personal anecdotes made this ceremony truly special.

Wedding Two: A Traditional Sikh Ceremony in London
A week later, I joined Georgie and Vinny for the second part of their celebrations – a vibrant Sikh wedding at Vinny’s brother’s home in London. This wedding embraced Vinny’s Indian heritage and paid homage to the rich traditions of a Sikh ceremony. The bride and groom donned traditional Indian attire, with Georgie looking absolutely radiant in her deep green gold-embroidered lehenga. She told me it had been made exclusively for her in India!
The Sikh ceremony itself was a profound experience, with every ritual filled with meaning and emotion. The combination of traditional music and vibrant colours created an atmosphere of celebration that was a delight to capture.

Henna Hands
One of the most beautiful moments for me as a photographer was capturing Georgie’s hands adorned with intricate mehndi designs. The dark brown hue, deeper than the usual lighter orange, was a talking point among the guests. I learned that this darker shade is believed to symbolise the love of the bride’s mother-in-law, a beautiful cultural belief that brought even more warmth to the day.

Why Choose A Sequel Wedding? A Perfect Way to Celebrate Love Twice!
Georgie and Vinny’s decision to have two separate wedding ceremonies allowed them to fully honour both of their backgrounds and create memories that would last a lifetime. Sequel weddings – celebrating love in multiple ceremonies – are becoming increasingly popular among couples with multicultural backgrounds or those wanting to have a more intimate wedding (perhaps abroad, where not everyone can attend) followed by a larger celebration.
Having a sequel wedding gives couples the chance to enjoy the best of both worlds. You can have a more relaxed and personal celebration one day, and a more traditional or grander event the next. It also means more quality time with loved ones, more memories to cherish, and, of course, more opportunities for beautiful photos!
