Relaxed Vineyard Wedding Inspiration at English Oak Vineyard
Some weddings feel extra special because you just know the couple were made for each other. Childhood sweethearts Lara and Jack’s day at English Oak Vineyard in Poole was exactly that. Having already tied the knot in a London town hall ceremony back in April, this August wedding was all about celebrating with their favourite people. With one of their best friends officiating a symbolic ceremony under a majestic oak tree, it was heartfelt, joyful, and a long time coming!

Bridal Prep at The Nici Hotel, Bournemouth
The day began at The Nici Hotel in Bournemouth, where Lara got ready in their luxurious bridal suite. With a huge balcony overlooking the stunning pool, it was the perfect spot for a relaxed morning with her bridal party. The light flooding in from the balcony made it a dream to photograph, and set the tone for the laid-back summer vibes of the day.

A Ceremony Beneath the Oak Tree
At the vineyard, guests gathered under a huge oak tree for the couple’s symbolic ceremony. Lara and Jack had written their own personal vows in elegant velvet vow books. Hearing them read aloud in such a natural, open-air setting was beautiful. Having a close friend officiate added another layer of warmth. A major benefit of having a separate legal ceremony is this freedom to make your symbolic ceremony more personal!

A Relaxed Vineyard Celebration
One of the things I loved most about this wedding was how relaxed it felt. With the legalities already taken care of, Lara and Jack created a day that was purely about fun and connection. Jack and his groomsmen wore shirts and trousers, but without suit jackets. I think smart casual weddings could be the new way forward!
Speeches took place outside too, with everyone gathering round to listen together rather than sticking to a rigid seating plan. It felt incredibly personal and intimate, even with a large group of friends and family.

A Marquee Reception Filled With Light
The marquee, provided by Coastal Tents, was the perfect choice for such a sunny day. It gave everyone some welcome shade during the meal while still letting in plenty of natural light. For me as a photographer, it meant I could capture the first dance and the party afterwards without even needing flash – everything was beautifully lit by the summer evening glow.

Golden Hour in the Vineyard
Of course, we couldn’t resist sneaking off for some golden hour portraits amongst the vines. Vineyard weddings have such a timeless, romantic feel, and the rows of green against the setting sun made the perfect backdrop. Lara and Jack were so relaxed and happy at this point, and those moments in the vineyard are some of my favourite frames from the day.
