Outdoor Wedding Ceremony at The Beacon, Tunbridge Wells
There are some venues I never get tired of photographing, and The Beacon in Tunbridge Wells is firmly at the top of that list. As a recommended supplier at The Beacon (and someone who actually got married here myself!), I know just how special this place is. Sarah & Trystan’s September wedding brought all the charm, emotion and relaxed good vibes The Beacon is known for — with a cheeky bit of British weather thrown in for drama.

Getting Ready at The Beacon, Tunbridge Wells
One of the loveliest things about The Beacon is how seamlessly you can enjoy the whole day in one place. Both Sarah and Trystan got ready at the venue, surrounded by their families and wedding party. It meant a calm, connected start to the day — no travel, no stress, just everyone soaking up the excitement. The Beacon’s beautiful interiors and natural light make it a dream for those candid morning moments.
A Stunning Jenny Yoo Bridal Look
Sarah’s dress was an absolute showstopper — the Jenny Yoo ‘Sparrow’ gown, made from the most beautiful floral silk with a chic thigh split that added a modern edge. She’d had the design customised with elegant detachable sleeves, giving her the freedom to switch up her look throughout the day. It was the perfect blend of romantic and contemporary, and she looked incredible in every single moment.

Why The Beacon’s Outdoor Ceremony Space Is Perfect for Photos
If you’ve visited The Beacon, you’ll know its outdoor ceremony area is one of its greatest features. The amphitheatre-style seating is brilliant — guests get an uninterrupted view of the ceremony, and from my perspective as a photographer, it means I can capture all those smiling, emotional faces without anyone peering over someone else’s head. Sarah & Trystan’s ceremony was heartfelt, relaxed and overflowing with joy, framed perfectly by the rolling Tunbridge Wells countryside.

Confetti, Champagne… and a Sudden Shower
The day began with blue skies, but the weather had a little twist planned. Thankfully, the rain held off just long enough for confetti, hugs, hellos and the most fabulous champagne tower. Guests gathered on the lawns, glasses clinking, before the first raindrops arrived. We quickly moved back to the ceremony tent — not only for shelter, but also to make the most of the pergola for those essential family photos. Soft light, dry guests, beautiful backdrops… a total win, even with the drizzle.

Romantic Garden Wedding Photography at The Beacon
Kent weather being what it is, the rain stopped towards the end of the drinks reception, just in time for a wander into the gardens. This part of The Beacon is stunning — lush, romantic and perfect for portraits. Sarah & Trystan had a few quiet moments together, giving us a chance to create some truly gorgeous, natural images.

Inside the Bell Tent – the Perfect Wedding Reception Backdrop
Guests then headed down to the bell tent for the speeches and wedding breakfast. This isn’t your typical white marquee — The Beacon has really thought about the aesthetics here. The interior is decorated with delicate floral illustrations, giving the impression that the tent itself has grown out of the gardens. It’s warm, elegant and creates a wonderful atmosphere for speeches (especially the ones that get everyone laughing).

Cake, Dancing & Celebrations
After dinner, the party made its way back up to the main house for cake cutting, drinks and dancing. The bar and terrace area are ideal for evening celebrations, especially as the sun goes down behind the hills. It’s such a relaxed yet vibrant space — perfect for guests to unwind and for capturing those fun, energetic dance-floor moments.
Personalised Wedding Favours with Woo Illustrations
Sarah & Trystan truly raised the bar with their wedding favours. Instead of opting for the usual minis and trinkets that often end up forgotten (or quietly binned later!), they invited the talented team from Woo Illustrations to create live, hand-drawn portraits of their guests throughout the evening. As the night unfolded, each guest received their own A5 illustration to take home. A completely personal keepsake that everyone genuinely loved. This thoughtful idea added a fun, interactive buzz to the reception and made the whole celebration feel even more memorable.
