It finally came – my first chance to be a destination wedding photographer! Kathryn & Phil chose to have their wedding in the beautiful (and hot!) city of Avignon in the south of France. They were actually already married – they’d done the “legal” bit in September last year; however they wanted a special day to celebrate with friends and family.
Domain de Blanche Fleur Wedding
Kathryn & Phil chose Domaine de Blanche Fleur – translating to “Field of White Flower” – for their venue. This stunning French chateau, surrounded by fields and vineyards, made the most beautiful setting for their special day. I LOVED Kathryn’s wedding dress by Catherine Deane. It was perfectly flowy for such a hot day and with gorgeous embellishment too.
The ceremony was outside of course, but luckily in a shaded area surrounded by tall trees – otherwise we might have all melted! One part I particularly liked was an unusual reading by Phil’s sister, called Albert Einstein on Girls… “Gravitation cannot be held responsible for people falling in love. How on earth can you explain in terms of chemistry and physics so important a biological phenomenon as first love? Put your hand on a stove for a minute and it seems like an hour. Sit with that special girl for an hour and it seems like a minute. That’s relativity.”
After canapes and drinks all the guests sat down for speeches and dinner. This was followed by an interesting spectacle of a dessert, a caramel millefeuille (lots of flaky pastry layers topped with cream and caramel sauce – yum!) made by the groom in front of everyone! Delicious.
Once bellies were full, they partied long into the night. This was such a fantastic france destination wedding and I’m so happy Kathryn & Phil allowed me to be a part of it.
