The Barn at Botley Hill Wedding with Italian Summer Theme
Jemma & Ollie tied the knot at the wonderful Barn at Botley Hill wedding venue in Surrey. (Long-time followers of mine will already know my love for this venue! When you’ve read this blog, head to the “Featured Venues” tab in the menu for links to my previous work here.) It was a slightly wet and windy end to May, but the colour and styling choices could definitely convince you otherwise. This travel-loving couple’s vision for their wedding was an Italian-summer theme, which they brought to life with a bright colour palette and a touch of lemony zest.
When I say I struggled to narrow down the images for this blog post, I’m not kidding. This might actually be one of my largest blogs in terms of number of images, but there’s just too much goodness not to share!

A Splash of Colour: Bright Pink and Orange Accents
One of the standout features of Jemma and Ollie’s wedding was their bold and beautiful colour scheme. The vibrant pink and orange flowers perfectly complemented not just the bridesmaids’ dresses, but Jemma’s gorgeous hot pink Manolo Blahnik heels – adding a pop of colour to the serene surroundings of The Barn at Botley Hill. The floral arrangements by Holly and the Dragonfly were nothing short of spectacular. They added a joyful and lively energy to the ceremony and reception spaces, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that reflected the couple’s vibrant personalities.

Italian Summer Details
Jemma and Ollie’s love for Italy was woven throughout the day, especially during the wedding breakfast. Each table was named after one of their favourite Italian destinations, from Positano to Sorrento, giving their guests a taste of la dolce vita. The decor was a feast for the eyes, with pink hues and lemons artfully scattered across the tables. The combination of these elements transported everyone to a sunny Italian terrace (despite the drizzles outside!), making the meal not just a feast of food but of ambiance too. Every element thoughtfully chosen to reflect the couple’s shared passion for travel.

A Unique Guestbook Idea: Postcards from Italy
Continuing with the travel theme, Jemma and Ollie opted for a truly unique and personal guestbook idea. Instead of a traditional book, they chose postcards from their favourite spots in Italy. Guests wrote their well wishes on the back of each postcard before “posting” them in a personalized post box. This creative alternative to a guestbook was a hit with the guests and added a lovely interactive element to the day. It’s a wonderful keepsake for the couple to look back on, filled with heartfelt messages that they can enjoy reading together in the years to come.

A Toast with a Twist: The Tequila Shot Table Plan
The tequila shot table plan was certainly one of the most memorable parts of the day. Jemma and Ollie encouraged their guests to “take a shot and take your seat,” resulting in plenty of laughter and some fantastic photo opportunities. This playful touch added an extra layer of fun to the seating arrangement and set the tone for an evening of celebration. A brilliant way to break the ice and get the party started!

Cake Cutting Extravagance
The cake-cutting was another highlight of the day, but with a twist. Instead of the traditional cake knife, Jemma and Ollie chose to cut their wedding cake with a sword! This dramatic and fun moment perfectly captured the couple’s adventurous spirit and made for some fantastic photos. A friend made the cake itself, adding that extra special personal touch.
